Frédéric Brière is a practitioner of “think different”.
He leads and develops artistic foundations and museum projects, often ex-nihilo from the foreshadowing phase. Having previously worked in the creative industries in New York and Paris, experienced both successes and failures, he has a strong French-American crossover creative culture. He regularly contributes his writings on contemporary art (books, catalogs, texts).

Frédéric Brière is the executive director of the Bredin Prat Foundation since 2017 and a member of the selection committee of the Jean-François Prat Prize, a leading discoverer and monitor of international contemporary painting, since 2011.

Previously, he instigated the conversion of Paris Bourse de Commerce into a contemporary art museum, originally for a museum project he founded called MOCA Paris. Focusing on American post-war & contemporary art, MOCA Paris ultimately did not launch because of a funding shortfall.
Frédéric Brière's vision for this building was subsequently successful, completing what he had initiated with the CCI and the City of Paris from 2010 to 2014, while the premises was under its exclusivity rights.
He was the first to disclose, present and give a tour of this location to Pinault group in 2014 to set up a museum dedicated to display the collection of François Pinault in Paris, in lieu of MOCA.

Having become familiar with American philanthropy during his years in New York, Brière has been able to provide prospective plans to Parisian museums on the development of their patronage in France and the United States. Furthermore, he was consulted by the Beaux-Arts de Paris (ENSBA) for an African project in Morocco.

He is the author of the Artist's Guide (Pyramyd, 2015; Archibooks, 2011), a book which has become a best seller among students of art schools in France. Brière regularly writes texts for contemporary art books and catalogs

His experience in New York from 2006 to 2009, at the heart of the dazzling world of contemporary art, led Frédéric Brière to become himself collector of a contemporary art. The preponderance of the New York art scene, with its museum collections (from the Frick Collection to MoMA), its kunsthalle exhibitions (from Studio Harlem to the Swiss Institute) and on-site artistic philanthropy, catalyzed Brière’s professional interest and his personal passion into his full-time job after 12 years of working in cultural industries.
Besides contemporary American art, he has developed an interest in art brought by African-American creators since 2008.

Frédéric Brière has never had a predecessor in any of the positions he has held. His profile naturally leads him towards innovation and development of cultural activities combining aesthetics, creativity, and intellect. An adept of "Think different", he opens up new trails rather than following the trodden path.
